Born in Jackson, Carolyn Joan Fretz graduated with the 1950 high school class from Midland High School, attended Michigan State University and the earned her Bachelor’s in phys ed from Central Michigan University. Following a long career as an elementary teacher with the Midland Public Schools, she operated her own pet care service. Fretz was preceded in death by life partner Gwendolyn Bagley.

Gwendolyn Mae Bagley was born in the Upper Peninsula town of Wilson and graduated from Powers-Spalding High School. She earned her B.S. in physical education at Northern Michigan Teachers College, later NMU, and taught in Marquette for two years before moving to Midland to teach. Bagley retired in 1986. She was survvived by Carolyn Fretz, her life partner of more than 50 years.

Born in Bay City, Amy Jo Lambert grew up in Midland and graduated with the class of 1986 from Dow High School. She as director of the Fun House and in recent years helped facilitate a local Superhero Training Camp for kids. Lambert was also an avid camper, hiker, and kayaker. She was survived by her partner Julie Sugar.

Ryan Pennacchini Hall was born in Midland and grew up in Gladwin. He graduated from Gladwin High School and attended Eastern Michigan University before moving in 2003 to Tucson, Arizona, where he worked as a manager at Bookmans new and used bookstore. Pennacchini Hall and his spouse Frederico Hall Pennacchini were married on October 25, 2014.

Kristen Kay Laughton was born in Midland, graduated from Bullock Creek High School in 2010, studied at Mid Michigan College, and worked at Dow Chemical. Laughton lost her life in a fatal car crash due to winter road conditions. Her spouse Jessica Laughton survived her.

An accounting clerk in local radio before her retirement in 1983, Helen King was active in the Cub Scouts, Little League, Dolphin Swim Team, Alliance of Mental Health, and Salvation Army in Midland. In the late 1980s, King co-founded the local chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.
