Mary Beth Dietz earned a B.A. in English from Michigan State University and taught English in Wisconsin before returning to school to become a chiropractor.  She and LeAnne Ray became the first same-sex couple married in Michigan City, Indiana.

John Kellogg

January 12, 1951 – August 10, 1995

A descendant of the Kellogg cereal family, John Kellogg in the 1970s migrated from west Michigan to San Francisco where he worked in gay businesses, including the adult film industry.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 44.

Christopher Andrew Leinonen

Detroit native Christopher Andrew “Drew” Leinonen moved to Florida just before high school and made a career as a psychologist.  He was killed in the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016 at age 32.
