Cynthia Susan Everling, known to friends as Cindy, graduated from Pontiac Central High School and studied philosophy at Oakland University, with additional studies at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan.  She was a case manager and grant writer for the HIV/AIDS Resource Center.  Everling resided in Ann Arbor with her partner of 28 years Lin Jacobs.

Judith Bohms

Judith Altheo Bohms of Lansing was born in Ypsilanti, grew up in Adrian, and taught elementary school in Charlotte, retiring in 2009 after 40 years in the classroom.  Bohms and her partner of 27 years Lisa Haston sang with Sistrum, the Lansing Women’s Chorus and were active with the Lansing Association for Human Rights.

Jean Kinnear

Jean Kinnear grew up near Lexington, Virginia, earned her B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University and her M.S. and Ph.D. at Penn State.  As a professor at Northern Michigan University, she taught outdoor recreation for 30 distinguished years.  Kinnear lived in Marquette with life partner Joanna Mitchell.

Janis Warren

Farmington Hills resident, CPA, and the mother of a gay son, Janis Warren was a devoted ally to Metro Detroit’s LGBTQ community.  Among the causes that she supported were the Triangle Foundation, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition.

Ken Dudley

November 3, 1946 – April 28, 1991

A graduate of Wayne State University, Kenneth T. Dudley was a pioneering activist with the Detroit Gay Liberation Front and speaker at the city’s first pride march and rally in 1972.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 44.
