Kraig Knorr

January 20, 1957 – November 18, 1999

Pontiac resident Kraig Marlon Knorr was born in Alpena and attended Hillman Community High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1979 and later earned his B.A. at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he worked as a tutor in the writing center.  In the 1990s, Knorr worked as DJ at the State Bar in Flint and at Popper’s in Pontiac.

Ferd Eggan

October 1, 1946 – July 15, 2007

Born in Lansing, Frederick Irving Eggan, later known as Ferd, grew up in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School.  In the mid-1960s, Eggan dropped out of college to register black voters in South Carolina, later took part in the Chicago Gay Liberation Front, and in the late 1990s served as the AIDS coordinator for the City of Los Angeles.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 60.

Peresephone Reynolds

September 1, 1944 – May 2, 2018

Born in Pontiac, Peresephone Reynolds grew up in Lake Orion and, in 1971, moved to Harrisville where she lived with her life partner Gloria Laurette.  She taught with the Oscoda Area Schools and Alpena Community College, earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1993, and retired in 2007.  Reynolds and Laurette moved downstate to Clinton Township in 2016.

Roy Reinholz

Roy Reinholz pic

July 10, 1961 – December 13, 1985

Raised in the small town of Ossineke, Roy Reinholz graduated from Alpena High School in 1980, earned his B.A. from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1983, and later attended Hunter City College in New York.  He died of complications from AIDS at age 24.
