January 23, 1993 – June 28, 2013

A native of the state of Wyoming, Krisen Grace Lison of Charlotte graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester in 2011.  She went on to attend Michigan State University, where she was involved with the campus LGBT community.  Lison was studying writing and authored three books of poetry and short stories.  Her fiancé Dalton Strong was among her survivors.

Alice Anderson

Grand Rapids resident Alice Joy Anderson was born in Holland.  Anderson’s creativity drew her to mythology, literature, music, architecture, history, and photography, and a passion for LEGO building blocks.  Her studies took her to India and Iceland.  At age 16, Anderson entered Hope College, where she worked as a set carpenter in the Theater Department and earned her B.A. in studio art in 2016.

Cody Petzold

August 12, 1993 – December 26, 2014

Cody Petzold was valedictorian of his class at Holly High School in 2011 and went on to become a student leader and LGBT activist at Oakland University.  In addition to studying human resources, he served as the vice president of the campus Gay Straight Alliance and interned with the Chrysler Corporation.

Miranda Starr Bennett

November 14, 1993 – January 2, 2016

Born in Muskegon, Miranda Starr Bennett was active in sports and music at Muskegon High School with a special devotion to the saxophone.  She worked for Wendy’s and Taco Bell.  Among her survivors was her life partner Kendra Boos.
