Terry Romatz

Terry Romatz pic

December 5, 1949 – October 27, 2004

Born in Mount Clemens, Terrance Jacob “Terry” Romatz of Fraser graduated with the class of 1968 from Fraser High School.  He later worked at Sears and was self-employed cleaning houses.  Romatz was also a longtime Metra magazine employee who organized the Metra Picnic and delivered the publication at bar throughout Metro Detroit.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 54.

Roger McKinney

December 1, 1960 – December 4, 1994

Detroit native Roger Alan McKinney graduated from Fraser High School in 1979.  McKinney bartended at the Back Pocket and the CCW in the early 1980s before moving to South Haven, where he worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 34.

James Johnstone

August 2, 1934 – June 26, 2006

A graduate of Michigan State University, Clinton Township resident James Johnstone taught math with the Fraser Schools for 30 years.  He served as a union leader with the Michigan Education Association, was long active in Democratic politics, and was an ardent supporter of the ACLU, NOW, and PFLAG.
