Raishean Garrett

January 21, 1970 – December 2, 1996

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Raishean Ali-Bai Garrett came of age and came out in Detroit in the late 1980s.  He held a number of retail jobs in the fashion industry and a popular “club kid” at the Glass House, Menjo’s, Heaven, the Continental, Shoppers, and countless house parties.  Before his death, Garrett moved with his sister to Columbia, South Carolina.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 26.

January 11, 1970 – October 25, 2019

Angelina Marie Winn graduated with the class of 1988 from St. Francis High School in Traverse City.  After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she went on to have a 20-year career as a corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections.  Winn and her longtime partner Tara Kelley were found dead in their Kingsley home in a tragic murder-suicide.

Jacqueline Maurier

October 3, 1970 – November 27, 2017

Jacqueline Maurier of Livonia earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Michigan and an Associate degree from Henry Ford Community College.  She worked as a surgical technologist at Garden City Hospital and taught as a surgical instructor.  The mother of two, Maurier was survived by her significant other Cristi Dikeou.

James Minterfering

April 1, 1970 – January 2, 1998

Falmouth resident James Douglas Minterfering graduated from Mt. Morris High School, where he performed in the marching band.  He was employed for many years with Perry Drug Store in Flint.  Minterfering also performed in local dinner theater.  He died from AIDS-related complications at age 27.

Melissa Schout

November 29, 1970 – November 3, 2016

Melissa Sorber Schout graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist High School in the class of 1988.  She later lived in Chicago before settling in Flowery Branch, Georgia outside Atlanta.  Schout was employed with RxSleep and was survived by her spouse Alicia Addington.
