March 24, 1965 – November 21, 1995
Warren resident Charles Petty grew up around Waterford and Pontiac and graduated with the class of 1983 from Lake Orion High School. He was a bartender at the Woodward and the Other Side, as well as a dancer at the Gold Coast. Petty later handled maintenance at the TNT Health Club and his lover was Danny Potter. He died from AIDS-related complications at age 30
Michigan LGBTQ Remember 
I knew Charles in the early eighties, lost track of him, but never forgot about him. Have googled him over the years and never found anything. Now I know, and my heart aches. Thank you for creating this project.

I visited Chuck’s gravesite yesterday (8-31-23). It looked like someone at one time put some effort into putting plants and some statuettes around his grave. But yesterday it looked pretty neglected, I weeded and washed the headstone. Shed a few tears remembering a sweet guy who was taken from us when he was so young and full of life.
